Back to the Basics Workshop is a hands-on, interactive, and fun experience where all lessons are taught through small group activities which give teens time to learn, practice, and share. Students will leave with the skills and confidence required to make a strong first impression, determine their personal strengths, and make the best use of their non-verbal communication. Students will learn how to: Communicate with adults Create and customize their own 30-second commercial Practice resiliency by bouncing back after they fail Keep pressure from turning into stress Stay confident while interviewing for colleges or summer job And so much more! Dinner will be provided from 5:00-5:30 pm. Each student will take home a BMore Learning Back to the Basics Certificate and a parent resource for ongoing conversations.

Recovery Rocks

The Connection is proud to bring back to the Cumming Fairgrounds on September 18, 2022, from 12 pm-6 pm, “Recovery Rocks” A Family-Friendly Music Festival. Recovery Rocks is The Connection’s only fundraiser which coincides with National Recovery Month where building the awareness of behavioral health and improving the lives of individuals and their families living with mental and substance abuse disorders is recognized and addressed.

The concert is headlined by Ken Block and Drew Copeland, two of the five members of the platinum-selling southern rock band, Sister Hazel. As two of our generation’s most engaging and prolific songwriters, the duo will share many of their successful hits for an intimate, “miss it and miss out” acoustic show.

Included in the lineup is Tony Lucca a Nashville-based singer/songwriter and public speaker whose catalog of music runs the gamut from soul-infused pop to tear-jerker folk balladry. Also performing will be the up and coming singer/songwriter, Townsend who is an acclaimed mental health advocate. Mama Jan Smith, a nationally recognized singer/songwriter, is a Grammy-nominated producer, and will be the Emcee for the event.

Additional festival activities include a Kids Zone, a variety of vendors and food. Recovery Peer to Peer support will also be available at “The Connection” tent.
