Forsyth County Parks Foundation Virtual Run “Tour de Forsyth” 1/1/2021 - 4/24/2021

Forsyth County Parks Foundation and Totally Running invites community members, friends, and families of Forsyth County to come and join the Parks Foundation for a virtual run from January 1, 2021 until April 24, 2021 culminating with the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce’s Boulder Dash.

Tour de Forsyth, sponsored by Totally Running and the Forsyth County Parks Foundation, is a virtual run where, on your own time, walk, jog, run, or bike on any of the 18 different Forsyth County parks with trails. Your goal is to reach 50 total miles in 16 weeks. You may record your progress online at your own convenience. The entry fee is $40.00, and all proceeds go to fund FCPF’s scholarship program for local children. Tour de Forsyth participants will receive a T-shirt and a $5.00 discount code on the entry fee for the 2021 Boulder Dash.

CARES Act Update- Small Businesses

On February 23rd, the White House announced several measures to ensure the smallest firms have access to Paycheck Protection Program loans, including an exclusive application window for firms with fewer than 20 employees, a revised loan calculation and funding set-aside for sole proprietors and self-employed individuals and new eligibility for businesses owned by those with certain felony convictions.

Specifically, the White House said that the Small Business Administration would:

‌

Provide an exclusive 14-day window, starting Wednesday, Feb. 24, when only businesses with fewer than 20 employees are eligible to apply.

Set aside $1 billion for PPP loans for sole proprietors, independent contractors and self-employed individuals in low-to-moderate-income areas and revise the loan calculation formula for these applicants. (According to press reports, the revised formula would only be available to new applicants, not retroactive.)

Eliminate a rule restricting businesses at least 20% owned by an individual who was arrested for or convicted of a felony related to financial assistance fraud in the previous five years or any other felony within the previous year; the restriction will only apply to businesses with applicants or owners who are incarcerated from receiving PPP loans.

Eliminate a rule restricting businesses at least 20% owned by an individual who is delinquent on student debt from receiving PPP loans.

Clarify that non-citizens may apply using individual taxpayer identification numbers.

Sawnee Ballet Theatre is presenting a full performance line up this season with excerpts from Swan Lake, repertory works, and The Tales of Beatrix Potter. Swan Lake, which was first premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet in 1877, tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky composed this ballet along with The Nutcracker in 1892. Initially, both ballets were considered failures, but have since become the most popular and widely performed classical ballets through out the world. SBT will perform excerpts from the ballet’s Act II, restaged by Shara Martin Keith. Tales of Beatrix Potter is 45 minute children’s ballet choreographed by SBT’s Artistic Director Courtney Bromwich featuring a cast of 70+ performers, colorful costumes, and fun for the whole family.
